  1. My "McFocus" pads. Focus pads modified by our very own Mike McDonald. Offset toes, laced the calf wrap in (velcro wouldn't hold) and y-straps. Work looks like it came right out of the factory. I put the tape on myself, but it's not really needed, everything is like triple stitched.
  2. Modded the spine and elbows of my c/a. Mobility and comfort are noticeably better, which is saying a lot considering how comfy it was to begin with. before. after.
  3. Question for the LHS owners/employees (and I'm sorry if it's been asked before, I haven't read all 150+ pages of this discussion). I've skimming through this thread and it seems a common theme is customers trying on all of your inventory and then getting it online for $X cheaper. Do any of you implement a "service fee" when letting customers try stuff on? Say, $10 or so and then if the customer buys from you, it goes towards the purchase. I'm pretty loyal to my local shops (although I'm not sure if I could call Wesco local to NYC) and I could never imagine doing something like that to an employee who put so much time and effort into fitting me.
  4. New glove finally came in. Set is complete.
  5. Haha, I know Brian, Sean and Father McDonald tried to mark them up, but those pucks kept hitting the back of the net instead of the pads tonight!
  6. Just received (ordered from Wesco at the end of October).
  7. Do what Matt Dalton does! haha
  8. New twigs (plus my gloves for when I skate out).
  9. Here are mine. Boots are courtesy of eBay, wheels from Inline Warehouse, chassis and mounting by West Side Skate shop and bearings from my old RBK 6k skates (4 years old and rusted but still spin awesome).
  10. That depends, which vision do you have? If it's the top end 5500, then I think they'd be the same. If it's a senior level, intermediate or junior, then I'd definitely assume that this one is better considering it's the top end 8000.
  11. Hahah Dan, is that you? I'm keeping those. They've become really nice decorations, at least I think so.
  12. I know you guys have seen my new pads and gloves, but here's everything I have all together. I was bored, and I just returned from hockey so all my gear was out anyway. Here are my two sets. It's pretty easy to tell which set goes on ice and which one goes for inline. Stuff up the middle gets used for both. As you can see, I've become quite the Battram whore. I'm thinking about getting a c/a relatively soon. We'll see.
  13. I would've asked Battram to match the glove, but I just don't like TPS' graphics. I figured this was a good compromise. I like how the glove feels, I just hate the graphics they stuck on it. Hell, I really haven't actually liked a stock graphic since the Velocity 1's.
  14. TPS trapper finally came in. 1 month late, but it's here. I used it the day I got it. Couldn't catch crap, but I was able to rifle it, despite not being able to close it all the way. I don't know what TPS did to make this such a great puck handling glove out of the box, but it works!
  15. Hey, Brooklynite, where are you located? You mentioned that you became a Vaughn retailer, I'm just wondering where you are (are you at Wonderland?). For the record, I'm located in Bay Ridge (with the exception of 4 years at Boston University, I've lived here all my life) and I'm BKLYNNetminder at almost every other message board I'm on.
