  1. I realize the decision is mine, and getting a tattoo is for me and nobody else, but is there anything wrong with getting the logo of your favorite sports team? (Caps, duh) I didn't think so, but some of my friends are giving me a hard time about it.

There is nothing wrong with a team logo as a tattoo...BUT...be very sure you want it. The only issue I can see is if they change the logo.

Every tattoo I have I've wanted for a least 6 months before I got it. Just picture yourself with the tattoo for a while, and if you have any doubts about it it may not be the right one for you. Good luck with whatever you decide to get.

  2. Last night in our game there was a race for the puck at our defensive blue line. I leaned forward with my stick trying to poke it away from the rushing forward. My stick got caught between his legs so I let it go, unfortunately he tripped and I got a penalty. This is a perfect example of an accidental trip that is still a penalty, I had no intention of tripping him but my stick got caught up in his legs. The whistle went, I leaned over and picked up my stick. The next thing I know I'm being slammed back down to the ice. Someone on their team skated full steam at me from their blue line and cross checked me in the back! And for some reason he only got a crosscheck penalty...I'm pretty sure if you come from across the rink and cross check someone in the back in a low level non check adult league you should be out of the game...It's alright though, we settled it by beating them 5-4 and knocking them out of the playoffs.

If it is as you described a five and game for a check from behind would be an appropriate penalty, but a lot of refs are unlikely to call a penalty like that, especially in a close game or one with playoff implications.

Yea, I kind of figured that was his thought. They didn't call much of anything last night and the game got pretty chippy at the end.

  4. Everybody has told me to sever ties with my ex girlfriend, and to be quite frank, i cant do that because im still hung up on her, even though she is a total bitch one week, then comes over crying and apologising the next.

    F#$% girls are confusing.

Take it from a guy who has been in the same situation. RUN! Run as fast and as far away as you can!

Do you really enjoy the bullshit roller-coaster?

  5. 8-0 loss tonight. On a team thats 1-6-2, with one game left against a team that has 1 loss all year. And the Captains said even though next spring there will be a draft for the new season, it will probably be pretty close to the same teams next year. Do I really want to pay $160 to play 10 games of beer league on a team with no forwards who can do anything with the puck?

No, you don't. And that's why you won't see me in the league either. The only way I would play is if I move up to B league.

  6. that is pretty sick. I'm kinda computer illiterate, but what would the point of doing that?

It gives me a 22" screen plus a 13" screen to work on.

my friend does that and uses a separate keyboard and mouse, so id assume its just easier to type and everything when hes sitting at a desk. not to mention its a bigger display

I thought about doing it that way too but I'm so used to my macbook keyboard and trackpad that I don't want to go out and spend $70 on a wireless keyboard + $80 on a wireless mouse.

  7. Being one of the maybe 8 guys in our league of 4 teams that wears a shield I understand I'm taking a risk by dong so, but I expect the occasional stick or puck. Let me set the scene for you, were playing a team in the C league that has 4-5 players that should be in the B or A. A couple of them actually do play in A too, we got him kicked off the team after the first time we played him yet somehow none of the refs knew anything about it tonight because he was in a different number.

To start the game I get pushed into their goalies crease by a guy about a foot taller than me, I'm short, so they blow the play dead and ruin a scoring chance. Later the same guy cross checks me in the back so I turn to push him out of our crease, note the lack of whistle here, and its starts a little scrum after the whistle. We push a little and start to skate away when all of a sudden another guy on their team skates up from behind me and sucker punches me in the mouth, again I wear a shield, with his gloves still on. So I turn and get in his face while someone else from their team skates by and shoves me, he does the typical routine and decides he wants to fight me. I drop my gloves and proceed to comply with is wish, he skates away. I end up with a match penalty for roughing and so does he. How is it that three of their players push/punch/shove me and only one gets a penalty?

And to make the game that much better the puck dribbles out into the slot and I rip a shot...off the goalies face and up into the netting. Our center wins the next face off straight to me and I blast a rocket...right off the damn crossbar. We ended up losing 10-4, ah the joys of a C league team playing an A/B league team...

I hate the State Farm, team, they even cheap shot the guys on our team that CAN'T skate. Loaded up with ringers, it's pathetic. ANd how come they get a new guy last week? We have the shortest bench in the league and we're in last place, they're in first place and they get to pick up free agents even though the rosters are supposed to be frozen.

I don't know. Their best player was supposed to be kicked out of C and play B...even though he plays A league too... The whole league is a damn joke.

  9. I hate it when fans decide to wear jerseys that have nothing to do with the teams that are playing that night's game.

For example if the game is a Thrashers-Capitals outing, I shouldn't have to see Modano, Gomez, or any other teams' jersey in the stadium. However if they have a Knuble Flyers jersey, or a Antropov leafs jersey it is somewhat acceptable. But still go out and buy a new jersey.

What about whaler jerseys? Ive seen a few at Pens games. But I agree with you

So people can only be fans of the two teams playing and not of the sport of hockey as a whole? I've been to a lot of games when my favorite team wasn't playing because I love the sport.

Yea, I have no problem with it. When I went to the Wings/Capitals game a couple weeks ago and there was a couple next to us who was in town and decided to go to the game, they knew nothing about the Wings or Caps but jumped out of his seat and cheered when the wings scored!

  10. Sniping the goalie from the top of the circle on a 1-1! Felt great to finally get the opportunity to show my team mates that I can score. Now I just need to use this to build my confidence up so I can actually carry the puck up the ice rather than pass it when I've got time to skate it.
