sdcopp 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2005 Take the disc out and hit enter. Sometimes when a disc is in there, it screws with the booting of the computer, so try it w/o any disc
kosydar 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2005 Completely separate, but I didn't want to start a new topic. I just got a laptop and I want to know how to hook it up so you can have mutliple monitors to it. Is there an easy way to set this up? I have a Sony Vaio with XP on it. If its really complicated and will ultimately lead to me messing my computer up, then I don't want to do it. But if its simple, then I'd like to give it a shot. Thanks for your help. turcotte44 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2005 It depends if the hardware supports it. What is the graphics card?

cobrAA 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2005 well then what your laptop model it is a Vaio but Vaio ###??i'm not a expert in this domain...but what i would like to do is connect my tv to my laptop...with a S-video out but i never try it...but i think if you whant to have 2 monitor...but not showing the same thing...you better have a real expensive laptop...(again i'm not a expert in this domain) but my father who is a graphics designer...can't even have a dual monitor with a Imac(and mac are suppose to be design for this kind of job) only the powermac support this optionand the big problem with laptop...is their graphic card due to the compact size of the computer...ram,HD,CPU,Screen DVD-RW are all good as a computer but nothing compare a computer graphic card to a laptop one...(except the big powerful alien laptop(if i'm good))
2048 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2005 If what you want to do is hook up a monitor to the computer, all you have to do is hook it up to the monitor port and hit function+whatever the right key is on your laptop. On my thinkpad, it's f7.
DMBfan13 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2005 With the laptop problem, normally whenever it says invalid system disk, there is usually a floppy disk in the floppy drive, and all you gotta do is remove it, and hit any key. With the dual monitor, you must have a video card that supports dual monitors, or like some of the other people were saying, you can also hook through S-Video. Once you have both monitors plugged in, go to Display Properties then I believe you go to the settings tab, and from here there should be a check box that says something like expand my windows to other monitor or something. I don't know of any laptop model that allows for multiple external monitors as each monitor requires an independant video card. Then again, I haven't been keeping up with the latest computer stuff lately.

DMBfan13 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2005 Im willing to bet that most laptops that have S-Video output, it would have the ability to have dual monitors. I have a Toshiba laptop and I am able to do this. Never tried it just though the monitor output.
hip check 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2005 On an old Win98 laptop I had, to set the display to show monitor and/or projector you had to hit F5 (or was it Ctrl & F5....) to cycle through a) laptop screen on, projector off; b ) laptop screen off, projector on; or c) both on.Don't know if that still holds true with all the new stuff.
