Not in my opinion. I think a lot of superfluos marketing copy goes into sports equipment.

I think the white heel wedge is primarily a marketing thing so people can differentiate Tacks from far away in the stands.

My energy transfer hasn't suffered a bit.

I'm not a CCM guy, -haven't been since mites- and have never worn tacks, so I don't know what the CCM marketing is. But with the Micron and Bauer Air skates, didn't people love the webbing in the back section of the skate?
