over rated: Simon Gagne....i think hes decent compared to other NHLers but I dont think hes one of those really shining stars like naslund or forsberg

underrated (underrated as in the amount mentioned about these players): Ziggy Palffy and Daniel Alfreddsson...I mean i think a lot of people respect these guys for their skill and stuff but i dont think that the respect level isnt on the same level as popularity level on this board.

BTW: whats the dealio with kovalchuk? does he have an attitude problem? i knew he was having some problems with getting in fights with comrie but is there more that i should know about?

Past- yes. Present- no. I hated him as a Leaf. I'm still bitter that he was in the line up over Stajan in the playoffs.

i think kris draper is under rated

Alex frolov under rated

as a huge oilers fan you couldn't be more wrong about mike york. that small little guy has got some serious skills and is by far the hardest working SOB on the ice on most nights. but as a oilers fan i would say the one of the most over rated played i the NHL is eric brewer! that guy can't do jack and i would trade him in a second.

Tucker. While he is listed at 5'10", hes not an inch over 5'8". People underrate him simply because they dislike him. Other than that, I tend to agree.

Even Tucker can be debated. Generally the "slams" I find against him are that he's dirty, not really thats he's a bad hockey player.

He doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves offensively, IMO. And I think that starts with Pat Quinn. Tucker has solid offensive skills, far better than the fourth line role he is playing, being paired with Reichel. I think he is the Leaf's 3rd/4th best winger, behind Mogilny and Nolan, and possibly Roberts.

They were so highly touted and everyone though they could score 30+ goals a year and I've seen very little production from them. Also, if they wern't so good, why'd they go 2nd and 3rd overall?

Nobody in the top 10 has made as much of an Impact as those 2. The whole first 2 rounds (all I looked at) were terrible.

Well Nick Boynton and Barret Jackman aren't horrible picks..... but still aren't what they should be.

In any draft there will be a few first rounders who at least become decent NHLers. The '99 and '96 drafts were, what I'd consider to be, the worst drafts in the last 15 years. You can't expect GMs to pick allstars if the talent isn't there at draft time. You can look at some teams and their ability to pull some players later in the draft, recently Detroit has this rep, but you have to wonder how much luck is involved. I mean if the Wings expected Federov, Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

Brewer is so overated so many times he looks slow, out of postion and makes dumb decisions I still can't beleive he made the 02 Olympic team over Redden

I' m a Canuck fan and the only reason Brad May is still on the team is becasue he's a fan favorite the guy does abslutly nothing for the team other then provide leader ship which every vetran and and lose 75% of his fights

You still have to have the grinder and fighter role on the team and imo, he can play pest pretty good.

Eazy - I agree with you although Saprykin and Leopold have become big team players on the Flames over the past few years.

Jackman over rated? Before his shoulder injury he was one of the tops in the league, and im pretty sure he won rookie of the year. Or was atleast runner up.
