TUUK Lightspeeds on Graf 705

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I tried to order some lightspeeds to have fitted to my 705's and the women behind the counter said that this was not possible. Now, this shop is situated in an arena and they are just hired to run the shop on very limited hockey knowledge.

So i was just wondering if anybody knows if they can be fitted and any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A guy on my team has Lightspeed holders on 705's. I don't have pics to show you but it is possible. I would go elsewhere though if this pro shop has limited knowledge anyways...you wouldn't want someone to do a poor job.

Yes it is possible. Be sure that the guy who does it is well experimented because you don't want to damage your skates. I've put Tuuk + on my Graf Reverse Great White 704 so it's possible.

Do you think its worth changing from the cobra's?

I've heard good things about TUUK's and i'm not really getting on with my cobra's. I dont want t-blades so i thought either TUUK lightspeeds or TUUK custom +.

I had put Custom+s on my 609's a couple of years ago. The shop drilled the holder to match the existing screws on the Grafs. They went with the original 8 screws on each skate and it worked just fine. When I sold the skates, I just put the Cobras back on them myself.

it is possible i had that exact combination for a year and it worked very well. however, make sure yu get someone who knows what he is doing to do the work. mine were first put on and the screws started to come loose, so i took them to another place where the guy found out that they were mounted incorrectly such that the blades were not pointing straight ahead. anyways they fixed it and i loved the combination, but if i had it to do over again i would have gotten custom plus tuuk instead of lightspeed.

Hi Northy,

I hate to throw another option at you, but... If you like the Tuuk holders' function & aesthetics better than the Cobra, I would recommend the Pitch Holder from Mission. It has the same stability qualities as the Tuuk holder, yet the removal & replacement of the blades is MUCH easier due to the fact the blades are mounted via two external bolts (which is great because you'll avoid having to drill large "access" holes in your boots' outsole). In addition, they have the pitch adjustment feature so you can experiment until you dial 'em in.

Chadd and I have had those on our skates for quite some time and have had tremendous luck with them.

Most important thing is make sure that you has someone qualified to retrofit your holders regardless of what brand you ultimately decide to go with. You can always send them out to be done professionally if you're not comfortable with your LHS.

Hope this helps.
