RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted June 24, 2005 I've been playing slo pitch this year with a team from the office. Now, I can skate for hours and my legs get tired, but rarely sore. I get the worst pain in the front of my legs (especially the right leg) when I run...even short distances, like a hard run down the 1st base line. It never used to happen, but in the last 2 years or so, running just hurts. I have a very short stride...would a longer stride make a difference? Is that shin splints...and if so, is there anything yoBut u can do to prevent it...? RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted June 24, 2005 Rest...rest...more rest...I had a topic on this a couple weeks ago, and everyone said rest rest and rest I understand that rest makes them go away AFTER the fact, but is there anything you can do during activity to prevent them from occuring at all.I have heard that they come and go. One guy on the team (40 year old guy) said for about 1-2 years a few years ago he got them, then they just stopped happening.
rausch27 1 Report post Posted June 24, 2005 i went to my chiropractor about them because mine were hurting so bad, she told me to massage it with biofreeze everynight and tie my shoes really tight when im running and make sure that i land on my heel first not my toes
Kovy_Ribs_Fedo 3 Report post Posted June 24, 2005 Exactly, when your run, land on the heel and not the toe and you will be fine. Now that you have them, do what rausch said. My coach told me the exact same thing about the landing on the heel because he had them like 15 years ago and it was because of his running technique. RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted June 24, 2005 ...and make sure that i land on my heel first not my toes That might be it. I have a choppy short stride, and I bet I'm not going heel-toe, heel-toe like I should.

RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted June 24, 2005 Thanks...I'll keep that in mind next week. Postgame treatment really isn't an issue. They never last for more than about 15-20 minutes after the game ends...mind you, the beer might have somethin' to do with that too...
