2005-2006 NHL Schedule

Recommended Posts

Good point about the playoffs, I hadn't thought about that. I was thinking Eastern confrence. Its just you can really ware out rivalries. What I consider to be one of the most heated rivalries in the NHL is Ott/Tor and honestly, its TERRIBLE to watch. You may get a good game or two, but its overkill. With an 82 game schedule teams just don't perform well. Like I said earlier, as a season ticket holder, I don't care about teams or rivals, because if you pick those chances are, you don't get a good game, you have to try and pick players you want to see. I've seen Ottawa, Montreal, Boston, and they just aren't good to watch. Especially Ottawa because they trap to hell. I'd much rather play everyone once in a home and home and then throw together the interdivisional games for the rest.

I cannot believe Chicago is on the road for an entire month! I think Toronto doesn't have a road trip longer than 4 games. Alot of that is because of the scheduling on HNIC. It's good they get alot of saturday night games, but it sucks because they play the majority of the non HNIC home games in the middle of the week.

Toronto doesn't play Detroit or Chicago. That's silly.

Ditto for the Red Wings missing the Bruins and the Rangers.

The original six teams should all play at least once. Geesh, it's 4.5 miles by car from Toronto to Detroit, right? C'mon NHL!

You guys that are complaining that it is a professional sports league, and its crap that a team will not play every team; there is only ONE professional sports league that does. NFL doesn't, MLB doesn't. I like the new schedule. I don't really have much interest in seeing Anaheim, or LA, or Phoeinx. I want to see Toronto play Buffalo, Montreal, Boston, Ottawa all the time.

The 2 most popular sports league in North America (NFL, MLB) don't have there teams play everyone. Good schedule.

Duhh... the NFL has a 16 game schedule. Hard to play 31 teams in 16 games.

They are on a rotation system similar to what the NHL will use. The NHL will only play to 1 Cross Conf Divsion each season, so you'll only see the West Teams (if you are in the East) once every 3 seasons.

I like it. Big rivalries (Edmonton/Dallas...Habs/Leafs...Colorado/Detroit...will get more attetnion this way.

The point is that nobody complains that they don't see the Packers or Patriots every year. Outside the box, son, think outside the box.

I'm not stupid, I know the point. There's a big difference from not seeing the Packers or Patriots every year when it's NOT possible considering the length of the schedule. Not seeing Sidney Crosby but once every 3 years in an 82 game schedule is a big deal and utterly ridiculous. Add Kovulchuk and Heatley, or any other big named teams palyers to that list and suddenly a season ticket seems like a collossal waste of $$.

Major League Baseball has 162 games. I live in Toronto, and I don't complain about only seeing Barry Bonds possibly once every 6 years, or Albert Pujols. We are all better off with rivalry games, then seeing a superstar player once a year. Waste of time. Rivarly games are much better to watch. There's passion for the fans because you hate those teams, you want your team to win so badly. Not just, oh I get to watch Dany Heatley for one game. I would much rather watch a game with passion against a rival, then one game a year against a team with a good player.
