2006 Winter Olympics

I also liked it with the "kids playing" this doesn't make alot of sense to me. I would think if they do not have an agreement they'd be more likely to play, because at the time the NHL would not have "possesion" of alot of players and thus the players would have the option to play.

I personally wouldn't mind if the amateurs came back to Olympic hockey as well, though that's a separate deal in itself. It just seems the IIHF in this article is deciding for the NHL how they should proceed regarding its players in the Olympics. I'm not sure why it matters to them since it's really up to each country to bring its players, isn't it?

I have mixed feelings about it. Its a great place to showcase new talent if its amateurs. Then again, I like knowing the people who are on the different teams. If the pros don't play, then I lose interest because I won't know 5 people on any of the European teams.

It may cause some unique decisions among players. I remember Nedved switched over to play for Canada. Also thats where Kariya (at least for me) made a name for himself. Then again that was a while ago and I was fairly young.

I don't think its's really that fair for Canadians and Ameriancs though. All of our top players are in the NHL, and in Europe most of the top players play in elite leagues, so we get screwed out of our best playes playing. That CBA better get made quick.
