I can't stay awake through NFL football and trying to watch minor league football doesn't enthuse me either.

That's exactly what I'm saying. I've never seen a CFL game, but I have seen plenty of Arena Football games (pretty similar talent-wise I would assume, Arena most likely having higher quality players than CFL) to tell you that the defenses suck. They're much more exciting to watch for that reason IMO, but the fact is that the defenses are not as good.

10 yards is way, way easier to get in the CFL because of the talent department again. All of the good defensive players are in the NFL, the rest are in the other leagues (CFL, Arena, NFL Europe). The depth of offensive players is better, so on offense, talent is much higher in the lower leagues when comparing them to that league's defenses.

One more thing, if you think you can run the whole time in the NFL, you have never watched a game of it.

There's my $0.02... Have a nice day

I've never watched a NFL game because they're so lousy. 10 yards over four downs = 2.5 yards a down. That's your average quarterback sneek. Why need all those WR, SB and RB's if all you need to get is under three yards a play? Also, I think I'm right on this but I may not be - the highest paid player in the CFL is Dave Dickenson whos salary is $400K. Compare that to the NFL were once again players and getting unimaginable amounts of money just to a few yards a down or amybe stop a 350 lb lineman from sacking your QB.

Is it "Damon" Allen that got intercepted? If it is he is at least 40 years old now. I thought he retired after his stint in BC. Still one of the best Grey Cup games were Damon Allen performances. Good spiral and zip for such a lanky guy too.

I would watch the NFL but only if they had a great qb like Marino or Manning now.

Some of the best games I have seen were the Grey cups especially the edmonton games. Wow some of the best comebacks in the last 5 minutes of the game. Haven't seen any grey cups lately but have they been entertaining as usual?

btw I am a BC Lions fan. But don't know squat about the CFL since I am living elsewhere now.

I believe one of the better Arena football league QBs is a back-up in the CFL. Bishop? If the league is watered down defensively, how would it not be, offensively as well?

The NFL is definately more talented, no question, but I think the CFL is a more exciting game to watch. 3 downs forces you to throw more, so it seems like the NFL has alot more ground work than the CFL.

Don't comment unless you've seen both leagues. I probably shouldn't be commenting either, because I am just an extremely casual fan for both leagues.

Like I already said, there are still good offensive players that are not in the NFL that play in the other leagues. The defensive side is watered down since there is not as many good defensive players out there. It is watered down offensively, just not as much as it is defensively.

I already agreed with that too, that the CFL/Arena is more exciting to watch. However, being a half back myself, I prefer watching the NFL so I can learn from the running backs in the league so I get better.

I commented assuming the CFL is comparable to Arena, which your quarterback comparison confirmed for me.

I'm not trying to piss anyone off here, I'm just giving my opinion.

How can you have an opinion on a league you've never seen? How is the CFL comparable to the Arena league when a back-up in the CFL is a starter (and apperantly a very good one) in the Aerna football league?

I've always been of the opinion its easier, when you have the basic skills, to play D than it is to play offense. Especially in a sport like football where it's mostly designated coverage and specific duties. IE cover this man, play in this portion of the zone.

Isnt Bishop a 3rd stringer as well, behind Mcmanus and Jones?

Nevermind im dumb, im think of brady.

Brady started last season kind've as a co-back-up with Brady. So I can see why you'd make that mistake (I almost wrote Brady a few times too)

If you've played football seriously, you'd know whats easier and whats harder. Defense is about 5 times harder than offense, trust me. That's the reason I play offense ;). My brother plays defense and this year he's played a bit of running back which he hasn't played in years, and was talking about how easy it is on offense.

I wasn't commenting on the league itself, just the talent of leagues below the NFL in general.

However, after a bit of research, I apparently did see a game of CFL before. The Grey Cup last year. I didn't realize it was CFL at the time, but I just saw the Grey Cup mentioned on the CFL website, so I did unknowingly see a game of it. The defense in that game was horrid, and that's why I said they are comparable leagues. Sorry for not clarifying that on my last post.

Like I said, the bad defenses create a more exciting game, which is good for the fans. That's basically my whole point...

I'm not going to say that the CFL has better defence then the NFL because that's not the case but I liked to see all those 295lbs NFL

d-linemen come up to Canada and run there asses off on are fields.

I personaly don't care about the skill level as long as it's entertaining. I'd much rather watch an exciting CFL game compaired to a boring NFL. In the Nfl I can't stand the if you run the ball 3 times you can easily get a first down.
