I'd buy a skating DVD like Laura Stamm and practice at open ice sessions if you can during lunch. No power skating classes available? I don't see how anything other than ice time will get you better technique.

Working on Fast starts and powerfull strides I think needs to be done on the ice. Last spring I went to a local rink during lunch time to work on it cause there was plenty of room and as long as you avoided the figure skaters, you could work on most anything.

I think there's a reason why there's no "power skating" lessons/tutorial material to be found in Sweden and Finland, since most of those skills taught at those lessons, if not all are taught at our hockey schools run by respective club. Problem is that we don't call it for Power Skating or anything else. I'll assume your system is similar to ours.

I think sonsplayhockey offer very sound advice. Try to get some more/extra ice time plus have a talk with your coach in order to get specific instructions on what areas you want to improve. That way, you make him aware of your ambtions.

Good luck

PerfectSkater is a well respected skate-training aid. The late Marc Dumont was very, very passionate about the effectiveness of the perfectskater chords.

I think his brother is keeping the business in operation.

Hi...i once wanted to improve my game to the maz..and my dad purchased me the "Power Skater" its a thing like a bowflex or bike machine..but made especially for hockey...got it when it just came out so it was like $700 usd. i used it everyday when i was like 13. it helped dramatically. I excelled to the top of several teams. When i stopped using it I could def. tell the diference.

I also went to a fitness center call "sports enhancement center" they have all sorts of programs to focus on your one need. i took feet quickness....that sports enhancement center was one of the funnest things in my life and i got a work out. I met people and had somthing to do everyday. AT the sports enhancement. they had this running machine where dont only run on it like a normal running machine..but it tilts higher and higher like your running up a hill....that was the hardest work out ive ever done in my life. (passed out twice) But it deffidently worked. I was improving my game dramatically. I was ahead of my team mates all the time.....I would deffidently suggest the sports enhancment center..but if thats not possible i would try the power skater...Hell....ill sell it to ya...i got no use for it anymore B)

When you were using the Power Skater, how long would you use it for in a session, & did it get more "user friendly" the more you used it.

I have one & I find it quite difficult to get used to.

ever try the SkatetMill?

Skate Mill

I received a demo on this learning system today. The SkateMill is a tool within a larger picture system that involves retraining the brain or prgramming the brain to perform some real helpful "hockey specific" functions...

The list of NHL guys who have been "programmed" is amazing.
