Skate Purchase

Recommended Posts

So I walk into the LHS set to buy a pair of vector 6.0s (based on some recommendations from around here in regards to value), I had tried them on last year and they felt the best on my foot. Turns out I must have tried on one of the wider models, because the pair I tried on felt pretty tight. I decided to try on the Reebok 4ks. Those seemed to fit perfect.

My question is this, do the 4k's fit into the "good value, good features for the price" category as the Vector 6.0s?

btw, I only skate 1-2 times a week in pickup games.

Exact same question I was about to ask! :)

From what I read, the rbk skates are supposed to be alittle wider / has greater volume than a vector rite?

Another question..Are the vectors the same size as the inlines PF series? I have a 8D PF6 and they fit great..but the vector ice skates that I see seem really narrow for the D width.

Would the metal mesh on the vectors be more durable than the nylon on the RBKs?

Thanks

Both skates are virtually same quality, same price, same manufacturer. The bottom end is identical. The way it was explained to me is the RBK has slighly more padding and the 6.0 is a tad bit lighter with just the metal mesh.

I've been finding that when customers have a 6.0 on one foor and 4k on the other, 90% say the 4k is more comfortable. I say because its wider fit in the mid foot. Boths skates are good quality/value. The 6.0 was my best selling skate last year (for SRs) and it is holding up well, durability wise. Too early to tell for the 4k, but I'd venture to say they will be the same.
