Tour Hummer vs Red Star Alloy...Need Help

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of Bauer XX's that I cant decide which chassis I want to get put on them?...I like red star and have been happy with the hi-lo set up and the alloy is suppose to be super light and strong...But with the deal on the tour hummer chassis its hard to decide which way to go...My only concern is that with the hummer chassis being put on and the boots having to be altered it may mess up the durability of the boot or mess the boot up all together?...If you have any advice or suggestions on which way to go I would greatly appriciate it...Thanks

Personally, I don't think I'd want anyone messing with my skates in order to put the Hummer on. They have to drill and bevel, and that outsole was not designed to accept that kind of thing. I'd just go with the Red Star. You won't have to make major changes. You can't go wrong with a Red Star chassis either, damn good in my book.

I had a redstar E-frame(not alloy) but can honestly say I like the Humer after I had Tour install it & I have Bauer 6000's & they did not even have to cut any of My footplate out...also for those that they do have to cut the footplate I wouldn't worry too much about it holding up(mine are fine & I'm 200+lbs)...I mean this is the 3rd frame I'm had on My 6000's so thats already what like 40 holes in the bottom of My skates....?I must say of all the skates I've ever had a frame added to Tour did by far the best job, better then any local proshop on them I was very impressed. Although I will warn You the Humer will take a few skates 2-3 to get used to.

If you gotta do it, may as well send it to the guys that do it for a living, that being the Tour people. If you don't have to cut the footplate out, then I'd say you have nothing to lose. But most skates you do, and there is another post in this forum (Duckjobs skates) and there is a huge chunk taken out. That would bother me. Perhaps some it wouldn't.

^...see what I mean! It seems hit or miss to me. If a skate wasn't designed to be a certain way, don't mess with it. I also thing you mess with structural integrity when you start taking chunks outta your skates. The Tour boots have the outsole and footplate disigned around the DPS system.

Again for those that are skeptical about retro-fitting there boots to fit the Labeda frame, they should stay with the frame that came on the boot. Concerning the skate that we failed to remove enough sole for one of the wheels, and it rubs, we apologize for this. There is no excuse for this happening, but we have retro-fitted hundreds of boots, and with no problems. Our people probably got a little careless, and tried to be too fine, removing as little sole as possible. Again I am not making up excuses, this should never happen, it's a mistake on our part.

If the chassis itself is lighter, than it makes up for the loss in weight with an increase in wheel weight. Remember, they are all 80 size wheels. The Hummer is light tho, so I'd say when all is said and done, they're even (hiloe and Hummer).
