My 1st Shoot-out

Finally saw a shoot-out tonight in the Leafs-Sens game. The 5 minute OT was excellent with 2 on 1's and great opportunities at both ends. Then the shoot-out took just a few minutes to get started. Kyle Wellwood had a nice dipsy but couldn't do and Hasek took it away from him down low. Dany H basically blew it by Belfour. That shot was in the net before Belfour blinked. The Big E went with his standard forehand/backhand move. Hasek spread out the legs and stopped it. For a second I thought DH blew the groan with his crazy split. Daniel A basically blew it wide and high. Reminded me of myself in warm-ups with no goalie in the net! Anyway, Jason Allison then took 3 minutes to get from the red line to the blue line, finally got into the zone and ran out of gas and ideas. Man, has he fallen off the hockey planet or what? I thought the shootout was pretty damn exciting and a great way to end the game as a fan. It was better than I expected. I know hockey is a team game, baseball doesn't end with home run derby, blah, blah, blah....., but for the ridiculous price of a ticket to an NHL game, the shoot-out makes it worth it to stick around to the end. I think it is another positive rule change in the Brave New World NHL.

I agree...as long as it stays perfectly clear to all involved with the NHL rules Commitee that a playoff game never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever...

Yes Allison is just terrible I think it would make more sense to see someone like Antripov or Stajan give it a try. I've never liked the shootout I like what they do out here for Jr.A much better where it's 5min of 4on4 followed by 5min of 3on3 - the game almost never ends in a tie.
