i think he means, when you use them and they get puck marks, do you clean them off or leave them on. not intentionally cause marks.

Nothing creates confidence like puck marks on gear...

Especially if you play rec or drop in. Leave 'em on. Players tend to lose their minds when a new goalie comes into the room with spanking clean gear. Having said that, I'm not opposed to cleaning up my gear at the end of the season. Just kinda giving it a refreshening. Replacing worn straps, mending any tears, cleaning off the puck marks, etc...

I beleive having sexier pads than the other guy creates better confidence

yes, indeed. Here in belgium, last year I watched an under 14 in-line hockey game. There was one goalie who had taped his pads around his legs with duck-tape, and the other had brand new Tour GTL pads. I find that the one with the new pads was sort of more impressive because of the better and more expensive look of his gear, ... (probably this counts only for the rookie hockeyplayer)

I leave the puck marks on. For me it is a sense of pride. If I go to sell them I use Mr Clean Magic Eraser...it does wonders.

I'm a forward, but when i see a goalie with really marked up pads, it makes me think that hes really good. then you know that you have to work even harder out there when your playing against him

definitely leave all the puck marks, Pads look better after a month than they do fresh out of the box, well ok maybe not, but I love the way my pads look after they get a season in them...puck marks and all
