Sl Grip, Everythings gone?

Recommended Posts

In August 2005 I bought a brand new SL Grip 85 Flex Iginla RH. I used a bit for a while and noticed the usual wear and tear and didn't think to much of it. In August after a Junior B practice i noticed that I had alot of Silver substance on my gloves. I loked at my stick and noticed that almost all of the silver Easton was gone from the top and the name plate had dissapeared. After praticei took the tape off the top of the stick and noticed that all of the silver was coming off with the tape. I dont use the stick anymore and have had to cleartape the top of the stick sot hat the Silver stays on it.Now I have a 300 dollar peice of Equipment just sitting iny m basement. I was wondering if I call my Easton Repwill they compencate (probablynot) or bring me a newstick (probablynot)

That's weird. I notice a white color underneath my silver paint on my SL Grip. First the grip goes, then the silver paint chips, and then this white/iridescent color appears. Nothing like what you have though.

Its a stick dude, who cares what it looks like.As long as it performs the way you like it then whats the problem.

I understand the whole "It's a stick, forget what it looks like." But, you pay for the whole package. You buy a stick on how it plays first and foremost, but aesthetics have to come into to play too. You don't want to pay $200 for a stick that is going to chip away, lose grip, whatever, in a short amount of time. It's part of the complete $200 package.

On the same level...you buy a car for how it drives. So who cares if the paint chips or if the paint is fire engine red and not black like you want? BS. I know people would be pissed if their paint chipped off and looked like crap.

You have to expect a certain amount of wear and tear on a stick. That's just the nature of play. But IMHO, for that guy's stick to wear like that after 1 or so practices isn't right.

He said he used a bit in August, and it's been sitting in his basement since them. That's why he's pissed. Cuz he spent the money, and it's wearing funny. I dunno, without seeing it, or knowing him, you gotta take his word for it, and assume it really is wearing funny. Call me gullible. Lol.

It may have a paint problem, but its his fault that its sitting in the basement. Paint does not affect performance. And in the spot where the grip is fading, you dont hold a stick there, so its not a problem.

Defect or not, you're warranty passed quite a bit of time ago, so you're S.O.L.

I got a regular SL when they first came out and used it for about 3 hours and noticed the same thing....A few weeks later the stick broke in a game and they replaced it with an SL grip as there were no more non-grips in the store and I needed a stick. With the grip I haven't noticed that and I've been using it for a few months now.
