I just heard about that on Sportscentre about 10 mins ago. I was shocked. He was suposed to meet with Gretzky wasnt he?

Lemieux's been through a lot in the past 15 years. IMO the most talented offensive player to ever lace them up. The word "elegant" always comes to mind. In his prime he was in a league of his own. Probably the best goal I ever saw was in 1992 (?) when he scored against Boston in the playoffs. Made Ray Bourque look like an amateur.

That said- I would like to see him retire ASAP. The time has come- he is nothing like his former self. Funny thing- I still have a tape of his last game (1997?) against Philly when he retired the first time.

I went to his "last game" in Toronto as well. At least him, Francis and Jagr put on a show for me.

I agree, time to hang em' up. Mario was always one of my favorites to watch but the nearly two years off before this season sure didn't help him. For any of you guys in the area or with a dish, Fox Sports Pittsburgh has been running a show called In My Own Words, or something to that effect. An hour long interview/highlight tape on Mario. Stuff from the begining of his career until now. It's worth checking out, brought back some memories seeing some of those highlight reel goals.
