Recommended Posts

I am getting the 950's, because their on sale now but I have

two big concerns

1. How well do the dna strand eyelets hold up to traditional eyelets?

2. I play outdoor whats a good grippy wheel to get that will last?

thanks

about the eyelets.. I've played 10 months with them.. and I broke my first eyelet last monday..

I liked these skates, and perhaps they can make another eyelet here in the leather store for me ( hope so ).

They are all flawed skates because one of the line of stitches runs right over the plastic eyelet strands, thus perforating them and making them rip off sooner or later. Also, the boot creases with use. No fix was made in this model to correct these issues.

You are wrong here...Don't make statements that are not true....

The original batch of 950 skates used the wrong type of glue (which is a key in making skates), and caused the skates to crease prematurely. Also, these skates used a thicker needle which on some skates, would cause the eyelets to break..Only 15% of the total skates we made had eyelets break....That is less than the % of One piece sticks that break in the first 30 days....The issue was not as big as some people try to make it out....

We made changes to the second and third production orders, and did not have these issues...

I was told by the large retailer in Anaheim that all skates were defective so that's what I'm going on. My LHS stopped stocking them, and I have also personally not seen a pair that has functioned properly for anyone in my league.

I'm the only one out of 6 guys I've skate with over the past year that owned the 950's and had any sort of problems. They definately did not work for me (I went through a few pairs) But they have worked for my friends who purchased theirs a few months after I did, so hey, if the ones you pickup on closeout are from a later production run, then you are good to go. I personally will stay away. (Plus I realy hate those factory wheels. POS's. I usually chunked them before I tore the eyelets out. Kudos to Justin and the rest of the folk at Mission for the 2006 line..lightyears ahead of the previous years models.

yeah i love my D1Cs too.. great skate. When people had problems with the 950s i just didnt want to take the chance. I had a bunch of friends that never broke the strands.. but i decided to stick with my D1cs. Now my d1cs finally r getting weaker.. so its time for the 9500s. If you do have a chance to buy the 950's they might rip the might not, i have some friends that ripped them and still use the original pair they have, and its not like those kids play 1 day a week, they play 5-6 times a week.. do whatever you feel is right
