MP3 player help..

Recommended Posts

my little bro got an MP3 player and wehnever we try to put songs on it it does a few weird things. First we have to use Windows Meida player 10, which is a crappy program IMO. Second, we stick CD's in that we have purchased, and they come up, Unknown Author, Track 1 etc. so before we transfer them from PC to mp3 playe rwe have to type in the name of the band and the song for every freaking track we want to transfer over. Its such a pain in the ass. And then we when transfer them, instead of transfering them in the order they are on the CD, it puts them in alphabetical order, so its not setup like it would be on the CD. We just want to be able to put the whole CD on there, in the exact order that the songs are on the disc, and I can't figure it out. Also, do I HAVE to rip the songs off the disc onto computer, or is there a way I can do it directly from Disc to MP3 player without ripping them to the computer in the middle? Hope you guys can understand that.. <_<

I think you're stuck with renaming the files when you rip them to your PC from a CD.

To keep them in order, rename them like this:

01_Song_Title.mp3

02_Song_Title.mp3

03_Song_Title.mp3

That will keep them in order for you when you tranfer them to and from different apps.

You could always use MusicMatch Jukebox to rip them into MP3's . I never

have to type in the names when using that program .

Then transfer them to the MP3 player using Windows Media player 10 .

Or you could connect to the internet with WMP10 and it will automatically fetch the CD info. You'll never need to arrange it. It might be an option in the settings menu you need to mess with.

I was tryin to connect with M10 and it wouldnt find it (for Hawthorne Heights and My Chem Romance) but those are the only ones we tried to do that for.. For two other CD's it had all the info, track name, album name etc. so do you think I need to put a 01, 02, 03 infront of the track title, or if I just ripped than put onto MP3 player it would keep them in the order they're supposed to be on the album? For safetys sake we went through and put the numbers infront of all the names this time around. We still got plenty of stuff to put on it though.

He got an IRiver mp3 player..i think thats what it is.

You have to understand that MP3's are just like any other file, so the operating system will list them alphabetically.

I think you have two choices. Play the songs randomly, which is fine if you have many artists, although not as good if you're trying to play a specific album. Or I believe you can create playlists and download the lists along with the songs. I've never done it this way, but my understanding is the playlist will maintain the songs in the order you placed them.

to get a playlist, would I just search on bearshare for say "my chemical romance playlist"? It seems to be random as to which CD's it will have the info for, and which it will say unknown for everything. Also, somehow, it has some songs from band X under band Y and then the other songs from Band Y are under Band X's name... yet when they're in the library on the computer, the right songs are with the right bands. is it possible it gets confused when its transferring them over, since I did those two bands at the same time?

this things a pain in my ass :(

i use itunes (even before i got an ipod) to rip songs. it also good for organizing songs that you've downloaded, since it'll make folders for each different artist in the big itunes music folder
