Doan CCM toe?

Recommended Posts

Anyone who's used a Doan CCM blade, what does the toe look like? I searched, and it says "round" but is it round like the Modo? I don't like any wierd looking toes...just nice and round like the Modo. I'd even settle for the semi-round Lindros.

I got a Vector 120C Doan, and it has a nice round toe.

Yeah, I want to get a 130C OPS, and I just don't like the Stuart pattern for some reason, so I saw the Doan on the Flex Chart, and on the CCM website, and it looked ok. I was just concerned about the toe.

Ktang, thanks!

The toe on my Doan vector 110, in my opinion, is a square/round hybrid. The corners are rounded but there are about 2 inches of squared blade on there if that makes an sense. In comparison a modano or a clone has no real flat area on the toe of the blade. The Doan is definitely not a 'squared' toe but nowhere near a modano in terms of roundedness. Also the curve itself is much more open than a modano with a little bit more curve in the heel.

Hmmm. Good description.

The Stuart is the Modo clone I think, but like I said, I just don't like it for some reason. But this Doan is starting to sound like I might not like it either.

Pictures anyone?

I hope this isn't too late, but I got my wife a digital camera for Christmas. PM me your e-mail address and I will e-mail the pic to you.

PBRyan is right; the toe isn't a complete semicircle. It has a smaller radius corner on top, and a larger one on the bottom. The large one on the bottom is good enough for my pull-in and toe-drag moves (there is enough of the blade "surrounding" the puck when the blade is at an angle on the ice). Also, the blade widens towards the toe.

I like the straight part of the toe for board work.
