I need assistance making a decision

Recommended Posts

So I have this pair of He9500's (quatro) in size 11. They are a bit big. As great as they feel and as broken in as I have them, I cant help but feel that I should probably purchase a pair in my correct size. (because my left ankle always feels like its about to roll)

So why am I suddenly intrigued in the Code E2's. I know that I probably shouldnt be because of the horror stories I have heard from 96 about his frames and the countles others but I cant help it they look....sexy.

So what I am asking is what should I do? Buy the new 9500's ( I know this would make Justin happy) OR buy a pair of code E2's. I am HEAVILY leaning to the mission skate. This raises another question, what size should I get? I have akward feet in that my right foot is slightly bigger than my left foot which is a size 10. I think I should get 10's but I dont know how uncomfortable that will be, plus the last thing I want is to have a pair of sktes that is too small. I could go with the 10.5's but I dont know if that will be too big either. I am a mess. Thank you for your help guys. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Thanks for the help guys...I just bought the 9500's in size 10D today. They should be shipping tomorrow, and if all goes well they should get here on tuesday. I have TORHS winter cup this coming weekend. I know the MO on these skates..that they are extremely stiff and take time to break in. So I am going to bake them on tuesday, wait two days and bake them again on thursday. How exactly do I "punch out" the skates. I have heard this term before, how exactly do you do it? Thanks alot.

Mike

Well I woulda added some insight for ya, but I just saw this thread today, and you have already bought your new 9500s. The only thing I can say is that, yes, they are very stiff...but they are very well made and will be your skates for a long time (like my VSIs were for me) Mission did right with this line IMHO.

I also have two different sized feet. My right is like 10, my left is slightly bigger than a 9. Which makes fitting of any kind a bitch. I have long gotten used to having my left foot swim in some boots, or some shoes for that matter. Having a foot that is a whole size smaller makes things interesting.

sassmasta.. i also had to break them in before wintercup (the 9500). I personally dont like to bake skates, ive had a problem in the past. So instead i played in a bunch of open hockey games and practices and stuff. I would recommend baking the skates once and then using the skates atleast once so you can get them to flex while your skating. Just my opinion. I havent gotten any blisters from them and the first time i used my skates was for 3 hrs wearing ankle socks.

You would best have someone professionally do it.

I actually printed out the instructions that justin posted on here not too long ago. I am going to go to my LHS that has a mission skate bake oven, and I am going to follow Justin's directions to the T. Is there an advantage to baking twice?

there maybe an advantage to backing them twice. Remember backing molds the boot closer to your foot and the arches and stuff. Baking doesnt flex the skate. So even after baking the skate they still wont be broken in where you flex your skate. Thats why i would maybe back them once and skate for atleast an house instead of baking them a second time.

baking will enhance a fit, but its not an alternative to breaking in a skate by skating in it...

wear the skate whenver possible..skate when you can, I'd do that over baking...
