hockeyshmockey10 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 i have been skating in easton synergy 1300 skates for about 3 ice sessions. they are a 8.5 wide and i love the fit of them in the length. the only thing i dislike is that im still getting pain in the arch of my foot. i have a pretty flat arch to begin with and i have a wide foot. i have been in bauer vapor xx's, nike quest 10s and nike v12's. the synergys have felt the best so far but im still getting horrible pain in the arch. also, tied the boots all the way up and i have bad cuts from where the tounge and the boot of the skate hit my leg. im looking for a new pair of skates, would anyone suggest the bauer 8090's EE in a size 9? if my arch is killing me, is this a step in the right direction? whbd18 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 The synergys have a smaller arch while the 8090s have a very big arch.Have you looked at custom insoles(or whatever they are called)? The stock synergy insoles might nood be good for you since they have a heel lift in them. wickedwrister 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 I have recommended this to someone else before because I have the same problem. Pull the footbeds out and invest in some flat pillow $.99 cent Dr. Scholl's. I swear you will see a difference. I just bought some EE 8090's and like all my other Bauers replaced the footbeds with the above listed. I did not bake them and have only skated 2x with them. They feel like sneakers w/ no pain whatsoever. Try it.....really.
hockeyshmockey10 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 the last time i went skating, i actually took out the shock doctor footbeds and cut out the arch. i always thought that bauer had the flattest arch out of anything in the market. instead of the pillow ones, what about the dr scholls gel inserts? Project_2501 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 Wouldn't the gel kill the power response?
donkey87 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 Listen to wickedwister and buy a pair of footbeds. Why buy new skates when you can just switch footbeds. Also read this topic - footbeds - it has some good information on several different footbeds
Edge 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 I have a similar fitting foot to you. The only skates I had success with were Nike Flexlite 12s(best fit, LOVE THEM), then the 1300 skate fit decent, and then the 8090, I had to put Shockdoctor insoles in there though to help my flat foot though. hockeyshmockey10 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 i mean as i got older, my foot started to change a bit and it just sucks that the last 6 pairs of skates has just killed my feet for the entire season. graf 727's, nike quest 1's, bauer vapor xx, bauer vapor xx (first skate broke down), then nike quest v12 and now the synergy. so what edge, your saying that the flexlite 12 has been the best overall fit? no tampering with the liner? and with the 8090 (a skate i really want to try out) you just changed the liner and you were set? Edge 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2006 no, not the liner, the insole. The 8090s have a highER arch than the others i mentioned with my foot, the shockdoctors have a thickness to them that helps with that. With F12s, with both insoles, they felt great.
