I agree that you should not only buy from the small companies. I just think that its unfair for people to complain that there is no competition in the market and then they only buy from the big companies. For me its about value. I don't care what symbol is on my glove or stick as long as it works.

What gives the major players(RBK, Nike, etc) the advantage is that they have the budgets to work on R & D, and invest millions on what is going to be a better "performing" and designed product. Some of the little guys don't have the opportunity. And with RBK and NIKE who are a billion dollar businesses, the hockey world is only a tiny percentage of their entity.

And I will contradict myself and say that some smaller companies have exceptional products just as good if not better than some of the big boys

personally i think that easton will never be bought out.

they are a really diverse company that goes from hockey to baseball and archery ect....

i just dont think they will

eagle on the other hand will most likely be bought out in the near future

Maybe Nike will buy Easton and incorporate all the softball/baseball lines so it becomes NikeEaston Softball/Baseball. NikeBauerEaston Hockey (Questergy Supreme II OPS?). NikeEaston archery.

eastons baseball is pretty popular, and i dont think as many people use nike gloves/ bats as use eastons.

D&R has been in hockey longer than most companies. I can remember when D&R and Cooper were it. Early 70's.
