Straightening a blade

Does straightening a blade weaken it like curving one does?

Yep it would, its not the actual curving that weakens the blade..its heating it up.

wood blades can warp especially when the laminate is gone

Whenever I decide to recurve a blade.I put two coats of water-based polycrylic protective finish on the it,let sit overnight.The blade will turn a little brown during the recurving process,but the blade's lamnent stays on.I just sand off the little bits of protective finsh that got toasty and it's ready to go

I meant laminate not "lamnent"
