Skate width and inch's?

Recommended Posts

I have A question.....how many inchs more is a E to a D or 2E to a E..was just wondering. How much room do you really gain going up a size in width?

I'm going off my memory, but I believe our skates add 4mm to the insole going from D to E.

My thinking was maybe if you needed a E and they only had a D you could be spot puched into it. Depending on your foot of course. Like a can fit into a D vapor but the sides of my feet stick out so I think if I was spot punched I'd be oK. A am not looking at doing this but was just curious.

Yeah, I was going to start a thread on this.

My question formally: If my LHS has a skate I want in an appropriate length, but not width, could I just get the D width and have it punched out to E/EE(Bauer)? Would this be feasable to do?

Just wondering because wide skates are rare around here.

Exactley!!! Would be an awesome fit as well. JR spot punched my 8090 and my foot fit perfectly.

You could feesably pull that off, its a better idea to buy skates that fit correctly tho. To punch one spot wouldn't be that difficult but to spot punch the entire thing to widen it may not be a good idea, it would be possible to stretch it.

If you need a wide skate, it would be better to get your LHS to order a pair in. Punching out one or two spots is okay, but if you tried to stretch the entire boot you might run into problems with the durability.
