Tendon guard on roller hockey skates

I was wondering since the tendon guard on ice skates is made to prevent the steel blades from cutting the tendon, is that part of the skate still usefull in roller hockey?

Steel blades from cutting in?

I generally like stiff tendon guards for backwards skating or keeping my ankle snug between the toungue and the guard.

Not as crucial for roller (mainly protect from serious cuts), but it still helps protect you from hacks to the tendon.
