Firefox extension problem

When I try to install any kind of extension on Firefox I get a message up top that says "Software installation is currently disabled. Click Edit Options...to enable it and try again." No matter what I try to enable installation nothing works, anybody have any idea what the problem is?

delete cookies, if doesnt work reinstall firefox

Uninstall firefox...Re-install. It will save you alot of trouble.

Tried both of your sugestions, neither fixed the problem unfortunatley. Thanks anyway though, it was worth a shot.
