How do you measure your stick?

Recommended Posts

Just curious how most people measure their stick. Do they measure from the butt end to the heel or from the butt end to the toe? When you go to buy a one piece stick online and it says it's 55 inches (for example), what length is that? I usually just buy shafts which are obvious.

No I wasn't looking at that ebay thing. Like I said, I use a two piece stick which is easy for me to measure. My wife just took her first lesson yesterday and I ordered her a bunch of gear from totalhockey.net. Just was curious because I couldn't find any explicit information on their site (or any number of retail sites). I wanted to get her a junior or intermediate stick, but I had/have no idea if it would be long enough for her. She needs butt to heel about 45"...

Heel to butt end would be the correct measurement, if you are looking on ebay always ask though, some people might be measuring differently.

Some people measure from the floor to the butt, with the toe of the blade on the floor and the shaft flat against a wall vertically.

Most manufacturers measure the length from blade heel to the top of the stick. If measured from the toe of the blade, different blades will yield different lengths.

That's probably correct. Our catalogue has the Evolution and Precision listed at 59", whereas measuring with the toe on the ground to the top of the stick would be about 67"
