dumb/dull sharpening question

alright so the last 3 times I had my skates sharpened at 7/16.. I went from a 1/2 to a 7/16 because it was the "house" cut. Had no problems and it worked out pretty well so I went somewhere else and had them do 7/16 no problem . Well tonight before a game I took them and had them do 7/16 and I think for the first time I actually got what I asked for. I got on the ice tonight and holy crap my skates where digging into the ice like crazy.. I could barely stop.. all my stops were really really choppy.

. is there a good way to dull the edges myself?? rub them up on some wood or something . I'd get them redone but I've got another game tomorrow and no time to stop by a shop to get them redone.

Rubbing them on the plastic threshold of the door by the bench used to work for me when other people did my skates.

I'm going to have to try that thanks. after reading a little about hollows I'm guessing 7/16 shouldn't feel very different then 1/2 maybe I didn't get what I asked for..

Or the last guy just did a pair at 3/8 and figured you wouldn't notice the difference.
