Straps on RBK shin pads

Recommended Posts

Just got myself some new RBK 7k shin pads to replace my 10 year old Jofa's. The Jofa's just had a strap right below the knee but the RBK's have that same strap along with 2 straps for the lower leg.

Using the 3 straps the pad seems to stay on the lef pretty well... but the pad would twist pretty easily if fallen on the right way. So my question is... why does RBK add the straps to these pads? You would have to tape over them anyways for a complete secure fit. Maybe the straps are for roller use? I'm taking them off... but I just want to know why they're included to begin with.

Rbk includes them because some people prefer using straps over tape. Its a nice feature to include. Use the three straps if you want. Or you can remove as many as you like. I have a pair of 5ks. I like that I can remove the top strap and if I want I can always put it back on.

A lot of people prefer having multiple straps. I prefer them and I never have to use tape.

i prefer using the top strap i hate the feeling of my calfs being held in place and also having fairly large calfs doesnt help much either

I don't like pads like the TPS that wrap around your calf. I like two straps, one above and one below the calf. The elastic has a little give and moves with you, unlike tape.
