hole in the palm..which makes him a cheater? i dont get it

The reason its illegal to have is because you can stick your hands out and grab jersies and such. And of course I'm just being a smart ass.

well with the so called "new nhl" he shouldnt get away with it, because they cracked down on holding and skickwork, so i still dont think that it classifies him as a cheater...but if you just dislike him i can understand that.

A little hockey history lesson:

"Back in the day" and I speak from personal experience...it was common to have an open palm in the glove..in fact many pros had only the upper finger tips left in the palm of the glove. At that time..before plexiglass was standard there was only screen above the boards....One of the benefits of having no palm in the gloves was that it allowed you to fully release your hand from the glove and then grab an opponent firmly by the back of the neck, while the glove still appeared open, and mash his/your face against the mesh of the screen..leaving your face with a dandy "skin peel"....

Also what might appear as a "face wash with an open glove" was actually often the end of a short right cross with a closed fist.

This subtle talent was taught to me in person by one of Gordie Howe's older brothers who happened to be our coach at the time...Hence the rule about "holes in the palms"

What might have been even more amazing about this was that these same players never hesitated to grab a slapshot out of the air..into their bare palms....

Up until about 2 years ago I played with no palm in my glove for my top hand. It wasn't intentional, it had just worn away, but with the hole, stick control was so amazing I couldn't bring myself to replace them. After playing with nothing there, all the new gloves felt like I was wearing oven mitts. Thank God I discovered the Bauer Vapor line.
