Graf 703 Question

Recommended Posts

Hey all from Colorado

Been reading this forum and its great. My Question-Ive been driving my local LHS nuts with my silly a@#ed feet. Needed new skates as the old 3000's are hammered. They are a 10 C width with AA heel width. I dont like the way the new Supreme line or the Vapors felt so I tried Graf 704's. They felt ok but after an hour or so in them they REALLY hurt my feet to the point of brutal PAIN.Way too high of an arch..So I go back to my LHS and explain the problem...so they put me in a 703 regular width. Skate in them for an hour or so and can feel my heel lifting a bit and the ball of my foot sliding side to side.... Before I go back to my LHS does anybody have any suggestions. Note: Both the 704 and 703's were baked to my feet beforehand.......Ive noticed that the 703 does come in a narrow width but are they hard to find?? If I can get them how much narrower than a regular width 703 are they???

Any help from you out there would be great

A 703 N is such a rare sale I can't imagine many dealers stock them. They can order them from Graf.

Hockeymonkey has the 703:s listed in a "N" (narrow) width on their site. I dont know if they carry stock of them, or if they just order them in for you.

I suggest getting customs if you can afford it. Your feet seem to have some odd shapes (really narrow, different sizes) so, if you can afford it and have the time to wait I suggest getting something custom.

where'd you find the 704's?

FWIW - i have a couple friends who bought custom grafs that didn't end up quite to their liking...they were both done by the regional pro rep too.

:P :D I was able to find a set of 703 narrows last night in town at a different LHS and ran right over there-I tried them on and they felt as good as my Supremes-Got them baked and voila!! Aside from possibly punching the left on the ouside ball of foot area I think we are good to go!!! Skated the stick and puck skate at the rink and aside from a little of the new skate discomfort they arent too bad! Only had to loosen and re-tie once which was not the case with the other 2 pairs-it seemed to be a constant affair with them. I would like to pass on kudos to the shop I went to last night(not sure if I can plug a shop here)-they really took the time to make sure the fit was right on and then they did a blade alignment with a thin shim under the side of my right outside holder. What a difference that made,Ive always felt my right was a little weak or something but no more-such a small thing made a big difference!! They even gave me a GOOD trade in on the 1st pair of 703's seeing how they had only been skated in once. Maybe having played beer league with the owner a few years ago helped!!THANKS

The 704's were suggested by the first shop and I have no idea where they got them-I understand that the 704 was discontinued a couple years ago. Probably tried to pass on something they couldnt sell otherwise or just old stock or something

I asked a couple people at different LHS's and over the phone about custom made to order and they all said unless I had REALLY weird feet that it probably would be a waste of time and money. They said they had done custom skates in the past and they werent right the first time and they ended up sending them back a couple times with a long lead time. I didnt want to wait forever as I would like to have my skates broke in before Summer Beer League starts!!!!

I had wanted to try the Graf line for a while and was getting really discouraged with the first 2 pairs but I think I have found the right solution. Maybe the different shop made the difference. Not that the first one was bad but the other one really took the time and wanted to make sure the skate was right for me and it was apparent that the employees are well trained and excel at their customer service.

B) If you find a GOOD shop in your area support them, its the only way we the consumer can keep them around!!!

I'll keep you posted on the rest of the break-in and how it goes

Thanks All-this forum is the best
