Ottawa to get the 2009 Junior Tourney

I am kinda surprised that Montreal didn't get it. I know Ottawa had tried several times before but Montreal had an amazing team for the comitee. They were counting on that to be one of the major events for the centennial of the Habs. And now that they might lose the NHL All Star Game to the Coyotes who were supposed to get it but because of the lockout didn't. The thing that probably played against Montreal is that there are no junior teams on the Montreal island and nowhere near off the island. They tried several times with teams in Granby, Verdun, Laval and so on and people seem to just ignore it, then those teams move to the maritimes and those teams are the talk of the town. I was thinking that Montreal could lose the event not to Ottawa, but Toronto.

This sucks big time!

Nothing against Ottawa what so ever...but having all of this here in Montreal in 09 would of been a great way to celebrate the 100 yrs anniversary of the greatest hockey team in history .Im really disapointed :(

The days of the World Juniors going to the small towns where most of the teams exist are now past. Bitter sweet actually.

Good to see the popularity rise so much that big NHL cities are compeating to host, too bad for smaller cities where practicially everyone in that town would be involved in some way.

Oh well, as we know it's all about the $$$ and there is a lot more of that in the larger urban centres.
