951's or M1's?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I'm really torn between these two pants.

One of my LHS has the Mission M1's for $85 and they also have Tackla 951's for $120 CAN.

I've been skating in M1's for the last 2-3 years and they are starting to break down. My complaints with the M1 are that they tend to fall to low when I'm playing and they're pretty heavy. I use to have Tackla 1000's when I played like over 10 years ago and I really liked those. When I tried on the 951's today they felt really nice, but that was over top of my jeans with no other equipment so it was hard to judge.

Can anyone compare the durability and protection between the two, or at least make a recommendation?

Thanks

I recently switched from M1's. I wore the 951's once while playing and was impressed with them. I personally like the fit of the Missions a little better. My new pants are the Mission L5's. They are great after wearing them a few times. I had a large in the M1's and they did tend to hang a little low as the game went on as well. My L5's are a Medium and I have not had that problem anymore. I am a 34" waist btw. I think it still comes down to PP but that is my 2 cents.

that's cool info - i've had the M1's for the last couple years and mine slip down a little on me too. i'm around a 33 waist size and wear mediums though. i'm considering getting L series pants, but the only one's i've been able to find to try on were L7s, which felt a little bulky. the same size L7s seemed to fit me a little better at the waste than the M1's though.

Thanks guys, anyone else have anything to add?

Chadd, you've used M1's and 9000's (same as 951's?) haven't you?

951s are a very different pant from the 9000. I would just try them both on and go with whatever feels best to you.

The L5's are definately more bulky than the M1's. After a couple times out though I never noticed it anymore. They did seem to break in more than I expected. When I got mine, the guy at Mission/Itech told me to get the L5 over the 7 as they were very similar. The adjustments on them are great. I look forward to wearing them for a couple years.
