Junior One90 Skate

Recommended Posts

Has anyone seen the Junior One90 skate. How does it compare to the Senior version. I've seen most of the time in other models, there are usaually some differences between the two skates due to the junior skate being manufactured in China while the senior skate is made in Canada. Any comments.

I just got mine today for my son. First off, I'm amazed at how flexible they are. The XXX JR are much stiffer in the ankles than these. My son is coming out of a set of Graf 502s and the One90s seem to be as soft as the grafs were when new. The are also quite light compared to the 502s. I had posted a question awhile back about the difference in the steel from the LS2 jr and the LS2 power jr, in the catolog they are both listed as 246mm. I pulled the steel out of one of his skates and compared it to an ls2 246 and they are the same, the ls2 appears to fit fine in the ls power holder. The difference must be only in the Sr skates. I imagine it has a flatter radius than the ls2? My son will give these a try tommorrow.

I got them from kemps. I was looking everywhere but there, I had a freind place an order there yesterday and he kind of joking ask if they had them. The guy said yes they got a few pairs in about 30 minutes ago. He put the 4.5s on hold for me and gave me a

call. I bought them before they were in the store an hour. What size are you looking

for?

I know that canuckfan said they were made in china, but the tag on the inside says made in Cananda.

We had them baked tonight and they took the shape of his foot much more than any skate that he has had on his foot. He said they feel very tight, after the baking, I'm sure some of that will go away after he skates on them. He also said they are very comfortable. The only thing that he didn't like was the insole. He skates bare foot and the shiney piece of plastic on the foot bed felt funny. We change them out for the shock docters he had in his Grafs and all was well. I still can not believe how soft this boot is compared to the XXX. I wonder why that is. There doesn't appear to be as much diffrence at the SR level.

Not to second guess lohnman....but the tag may say "Designed in Canada" My LHS told me they are made in china and that's the reason they got the senior skate first and the juniors are still coming.

I received 2 pairs in Jr and just checked the box and skates: Made in Canada. The ankle area of the skate is a bit softer than the Sr but the lower part of the skate around the forefoot is as stiff as the Sr. I think that as long the player wearing Jr One90s is not 150 lbs +, he will be fine in the Jr skate.

Darkstar,

On your One90s is the rubber piece that wraps around the bottom of the heel loose? The ones on my son's skates are loose. It looks like they had applied glue, but the glue did not hold it to the "skin". I just got back from the first skate with them. I took him off the ice after 1.5 hours, I had to go back to work. He never complained about pain. He kept telling me how light they were and he said he can turn much better in them. I thought he look great skating on them. There seemed to be no adjustment period with them, he just took off and played hockey, kids can do anything.

The heel rubber looks ok. I never noticed a problem with mine, either. I'm glad to hear your son had a quick adjustment to the skates. I'm not surprised either when it comes to kids. For them, skating is playing and playing is skating.
