Thoughts on the worst team in the league?

Recommended Posts

You're knocking anything about Luongo when you have a Raycroft avatar? Okay...

I'm pretty confident if the Leafs D looks like Boston's did last season, he'll get shelled again too.

No matter who is in net, you need a quality Defense.

They took arguably the worst B's defender, kept McCabe, got one of the softest d-men I've ever seen...yeah, it ain't going to be better.

The Bruin's arguably worst D-man was also their best "regular" in +/-. McCabe's garbage, I agree, but Toronto's D was still better than Boston's last season and they've improved. Most people underrate Kubina, and Colaiacovo should be in the top 4 this season. When he was there last year, the team was much better.

Kubina's better than Khavanov

Colaiacovo is healthy

Gill is better than Berg

White/Bell/Kronwall are better than Klee/Richardson

I agree about the Berg assessment but who's not better than Corky Berg? I guess it wasn't enough to gauge Colaiacovo last year so I hope he pans out, plus Harrison was a nice surprise. I don't expect much out of Bell though, but that's not needed.

Bell's down on the depth charts to be honest, but Maurice seems to like him. White played well, Colaiacovo was great, and Harrison will be intersting. Kronwall may get the shaft because of his waiver situation (only D that can go up and down).

That's the thing, Toronto's D was so bad last season, and yet, Raycroft's was still worse.

I will be all right with their D so long as Maurice just knows how to put a line together. Then again he'll have more talent than Robert Kron, Ray Sheppard and Steven Rice. Hopefully he'll treat O'Neill and keep him with Sundin for old times' sake.

This upcoming season should be interesting to see for a Leaf's fan. I can't remember what its like to see Sundin constantly play over 18 minutes a game, or have a first line that doesn't included Hoglund or Kilger. I still think O'Neill got way too much shit last year. He ended up with 19 goals in an essentially 3rd line role. He rarely played on the PP, and was never out there in clutch situations. If he plays a first line role with Sundin and another scoring winger, I can easily see him with 30+ goals.
