If your going by bands not playing on the radio. I just went to a City and Colour concert and Casey Baker and the John Ralston band played aswell. They were pretty good. I like Casey Bakers song "firearm" its pretty good.

LFO - Summer Girls

Jason...

Hey, I was running out of songs with 'Summer' in the title.

Actually, maybe the best explanation is I was going through my mother's garage when I found the case with the 45's I had bought as a kid. As I looked over the titles, I thought to myself, "Whoa, I was a Disco Queen when I was younger...." :D

Funny I was listening to "Big Mouth Strikes Again" just tonight.  Man the guitar work by Johnny Marr is awesome in that song.  One of my favorites for sure.

Absolutely, Ponty, that song is great. I like the backup singer that sounds almost like a young kid.

Knowing Morrisey it probably was a young kid. I will leave it at that

Now question, are you copying and pasting all these titles or spending the time to write them all out? Must take a while, I would have given up after about song 5 on CD1.

"Brave Captain" fIREHOSE

"Shake and Slide" dead low tide

"good morning, captain" Slint

"stupid puma" Don Caballero

"The Barbarian" Emerson Lake and Palmer

"Pink Moon & Road" Nick Drake

I don't know the other songs by title, but I really like Pink Moon by Paul Drake.

It also illustrates how I come to know some of these obscure songs. I remember liking Pink Moon in a VW commercial, so I'll went to the web and searched 'song' 'VW' 'Passat' 'commercial'. Or I'll stay until the end of the credits at a movie to try to figure which song played in That Scene. Then I'll record a message on my cellphone so I don't forget the song when I'm at the computer later.

I dont know if Zeppelin or Floyd or any other consistent classic rock band for that matter. Most of their music is pretty obscure considering the songs you hear on the radio to the amount of songs theyve made and they are all pretty damn good.

B52's- Rock Lobster

I must certainly agree with that one.. and you actually have beaten me to it lol...

and this has to be the best part of the song...

Boy's and bikinis

Girls and surfboards

Everybody's rockin'

Everybody's frugin'

Twistin' round the fire

Havin' fun

Bakin' potatoes

Bakin' in the sun

Put on your noseguard

Hit on the Lifeguard

Pass the tanning butter

Here comes a stingray

There goes a manta-ray

In walked a jelly fish

There goes a dog-fish

Chased by a cat-fish

In flew a sea robin

Watch out for that piranha

There goes a narwhal

HERE COMES A BIKINI WHALE!

Dont know if Salming has mentioned these yet.

Limblifter - Ariel vs. Lotus

Age of Electric - Remote Control

Hayden - Bad As They Seem

Fun Lovin' Criminals - Scooby Snacks

I don't think I know the first three songs. I love Scooby Snacks and have it on one of my mixes, but I didn't know if it was obscure enough to list in this thread -- although I admit some of the songs I've listed are borderline whether they actually are obscure.

If you havent heard of them they must be obscure. No Im a little younger then you Im guessing and those are some songs back from the early Big Shiny Tunes days that I may hear on the radio once a year if Im lucky. I also believe they are all Canadian bands that were only popular in Canada so if you live in the States youve probably never heard of them.

XM created a Canadian channel that I've listened to a few times. When it comes to rock, there definitely is a Canadian sound, which I like. Indeed, one of the mixed mini-discs I made a few years ago were all Canadian bands.
