One more ? about shoulder pads

Recommended Posts

since i play inline i dont use shoulder pads since inline isn't so rough. What type of shoulder pads are preffered by most people? I was looking at the Easton Air. Are those good?

Right now I have 2003 Z-Airs; a bit on the bulky side, but they're good protection and pretty comfortable. I would assume the Air's are pretty good, as well. Those are for if you are talking about ice hockey. For inline, I hear that the Nike V-12's are pretty good.

I tried on some easton airs and wasn't impressed at all (these weren't the 2004s, they were 2003s or 2002s). No mobility at all and protection was suspect. Right now I have jofa 6500s from a long time ago (when jofa still used black/red), and like em for protection but hate them for ventilation. I sweat buckets after using em. WHat I did try on that I really liked was the new bauer supreme stuff (6000/8000 lightspeeds). Fits nicely and is relatively light. Protection's pretty good as well.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Nike V-12 or V-10 stuff. Can't go wrong with the top couple of models of Jofas.

I started playing ice a few months ago after playing inline for years. I bought the Bauer vapor 6's. They offer good protection and aren't too bulky. Plus you can find them for about $50 most places. Like chadd said, the nike v-10 and v-12 are real nice, elbow and shin pads included, they were just slightly out of my price range.

try out the nike v12s but they're kinda expensive for what you get. I don't know about the zipper on the front lasting that long but then again, none have ever come back to my store for repairs.

Are you going to be playing league or just drop-in beer? If it's the latter then any "classic" type shoulder pad should work quite nicely. Something like an Easton Classic or Sherwood 5030 would provide good protection with maximum mobility.

You could always buy something cheap and modify them if you're unsatisfied? I got some old jofa 8700's on sale a while back, but they were kinda bulky so I cut the caps off now they rule.
