Rucinsky to the Blues...

Recommended Posts

I saw this half an hour ago, but figured it would have been posted already.

I think they'll be solid, but it's an aged group they've acquired, less Hinote. Also, don't they still need a goalie?

Yeah, goalie situation is becoming dreadful...

We have Curtis Sanford who is a solid netminder, but a number 2 man at best, definatlley not a show starter.

And Jason Bacashihua... let's not even go there. With some talent development may turn into a good number 2 man... but also will not register as a number 1 goalie anytime soon, never, dare I say.

Also, I agree with the 'aged' observation, but I think it's a good move to build a solid veteran base for the next 3-4 years to help development the up and coming prospect pool.

agreed. It's exactly why the rangers picked up Ward, Cullen, and Shanahan. without someone to show them the ropes, younger players would take forever to develop.

Weight, Guerin, Tkachuk are good players to be around as many younger players grew up watching these guys. throw in a good, solid, team guy like Jay McKee (I wish that rags had got him) and character guy like Dallas Drake and something good will come of it, you just may not see it for 3-5 years. I think Rucinsky is kind of a hole filler, but he quietly contributes.

Yeah, that's something that can be said about the blues, most every other team in the NHL has had their ___ areas and their ---- areas and their """" areas.. it's like a peaky mountain range builds and goes from low, unproductive, bad seasons to a productive, solid mid team and then to a contender and then drops off again and rebuilds...

With the blues, it's always been ----- right in the middle, ALWAYS never really had that up or down.

I thought he struggled to find a consistent role last year for us, not to mention he had the unfortunate finger injury.

I think that could be said about both his stints in NY (or was it three?) and seemingly his whole career. Regardless, he was a point a game player for us this past year. Time spent on Jagr's line didn't hurt him any. He kind of slips through the cracks.
