Best youth hockey skates

I have had my son who is 8 years old in 2 sets of Easton skates. I was thinking of maybe another pair of Easton's? I was looking at the Easton 700 or maybe 1500. Any suggesstions or what you have liked in kids skates.

My teen has been sold on Missions for the last 2 years. Last summer he lent a pair of Amp 7's to a friend at a camp who just ordered the highest Bauer Vapors at the time(XX or XXX). That kid wanted to keep those cheap skates and send back the Bauers, he loved them so much. I like the Missions he has because they fit his narrow D foot like gloves and they are flexible which offers more freedom to extend the foot. If I was starting over, I'd go right to Missions again.

(history: Amp 7, Pure Lights, and now Fuel AG 110s). But of course my feet are too wide, and I've yet to find a pair of Missions that don't kill my feet.

I guess the bottom line is find a pair that feels good and don't spend too much money. They'll only last a year anyway. They really don't need high end skates until Bantam AAA levels when they are nearly men and are pushing the skates to their limits while playing a tremendous amount of hockey.

Those are good as well as the CCM/RBK skates as they have Stainless Blades.

How is that stupid? Easton now offers the 1500c and 1200c, both of which offer improvements over the 1300c.

My daughter has happened to get Missions ... I believe the count is 7 out of 10 skates... the rest were Bauer. But every year, sometimes twice in the same year... we took a fresh look/stand in ALL of the skates. Eastons have always been a bit TOO flat for her flat feet, but they work well for your son. So what has worked for my kid, may not work for yours.

Like anything else... it really doesn't matter what the brand is... it is the FIT. Even within the same brand, from year to year a particular model may not fit well.

And until she hit about 150 lbs, we didn't bother with the high-end skates; she simply didn't have enough heft to be able to flex those skates, even with high frequency on-ice.

You can find some good deals on the Easton Ultra Lites or UL Pros online. My older son just switched from Bauers to Eastons and had no problem with the balance point. My younger son started with CCMs and I'm sticking with them. In any case, see if JR can get you some deals on the ULs. The Summit Sports in Brighton MI is selling them for $99.

any skate that fits them and is comfortable. Having a stainless blade is a nice option.

I don't like buying to high end of a skate for kids, the outgrow them to damn fast and you just end up buying another pair. IMHO even the high end youth skates can be to stiff for the kids and it creates bad habits by not letting them use propper form.

My son (who is 12) has always used CCM/RBK. I have always bought him good, middle of the road skate like the 652's or Vector 5's. He is currently using the 5k pumps. All of these skates worked great and he out grew them well before they were wore out (he skates quite alot).

I could have spent the extra money and got the pros or 9k's but why, it won't make him a better skater and that is what counts. I see alot of kids with the top of the line everything, just so they, or even worse - thier parents, can say they have it. Our ego's don't need it and the proof is in the play.
