Shaving blades

Recommended Posts

I have recently purchased a cnt stealth 85 flex Heatley. The curve is beautiful, everything except the squared toe. I am considering taking my trusty dremel tool to the toe of the stealth and round it out a bit. Do you guys have any does or dont's? Is this something I should just become accustomed to, or is it ok to shave the toe?

As well, I beleive Chad made a comment about people that use 5.5 lie sticks and have them cut to there collarbones. I think he was talking about how a 5 lie would be better. Can't remember for sure and I can't find that thread. I am one of those guys who has their 5.5 lie stick at their collarbones (w/skates on).w ould you guys recomend I cut it shorter or leave it at the standard 60 inch length to deal with the change in lie?

Thanks for all you help,

Lester

I love the Thornton curve, but like your situation its a square toe. What I did is I took an electric sander(not belt) and just rounded the edges, you can do it manualy but it will just take longer, but it works great.

you might want to consider a slightly longer length to make up for the difference in lie. It's always easier to cut more off than to buy a bunch of different plugs.

thats probably a good idea. i like the thorton too, but the lie is no good for me & i hate the square toe.

& the reason i never gave the yzerman a chance for the same reason.

hmmmm.

i think i'm going to try the smyth anyway, since the lie is great.

Does it affect the durability of the blade? Or do you just not cut/shave into the foam?

I didn't even break the blade on the Vector, almost all the way through my high school season the shaft broke. So it didn't seem to do anything to the Durability
