Taking off the logos on my helmet?

Recommended Posts

This is the first I've heard of the sticker thing... stickers void warranty? One of the leagues I'm playing in this summer requires us to put an eligibility sticker on our helmets... I can't imagine it impacts the structural integrity of the helmet, but you'd think they'd know better for warranty purposes!

The only sticker I take off my helmet is the huge one right in the middle of the back of the helmet. Its so ugly it just has to go everytime. Is that the sticker that voids the warrenty?

I was told any alterations to the helmet void the warranty, any glue added or taken away by stickers will effect the structural intergrity of the helmet. I personally don't think it will, but apperantly they have fought it in courts.

I doubt that removing stickers could have a negative effect on the safety of a helmet - the problem with stickers is that some use adhesives that can eat into the plastic of the helmet. Most stickers are probably perfectly OK, but unless the helmet manufacturer has tested it, they aren't going to allow it in case it does damage the helmet, which could lead to injury, which could lead to a nasty lawsuit, hence the seemly anal rules on stickers and other modifications. Can't blame the manufacturers or the refs, it's the fault of the dumb-asses that modify their equipment, get hurt and sue someone over it.
