RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 So...I bought a jersey on ebay the other day...went to pay via paypal, and got a message that said "seller cannot currently recieve payments"The Seller was new to ebay (only had 1 feedback) but had 10 pages of jerseys and sports stuff listed, so I figured he's a new guy...got a good deal...I'm sure it'll work out.Guy e-mails me and says that his PP isn't working, could I sent a MO. If not he'd cancel the sale... He said he had someone who could receive it for him, and gave me a Georgia address....(the item was listed as being in Ga. as well).I e-mailed back and said an MO would be fine, but that I wanted to better understand where he was and who I was sending the MO to and where the item was coming from...I haven't heard back.*In the meantime* I found the same jersey in a Buy It Now (for less than what I commited to the other one). I've bought and paid for the second jersey and e-mailed the original seller and told him to please re-list the item...sorry for the inconveience...Do you think I'm in the clear on the original item? kosydar 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 I'd just tell the guy you aren't comfortable sending a MO, and that you'll only use PP. Say you had second thoughts or whatever. Should be fine with it if we was willing to cancel the sale earlier.

If he leaves neg feedback, dispute it with ebay.
hockeyherb 1 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Yeah, sounds like a scam when someones PayPal "isn't working".Be firm with him that if he leaves you negative feedback you'll do whatever you can to ruin his rep with Ebay - they WANT everyone to use PayPal so Ebay won't look too kindly on someone that does the bait and switch on Paypal. chk hrd 164 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 It's a scam. A person I work with (who uses e-bay alot) has the same thing hapepening to him right now. E-bay also informed it was a false page scam. E-bay wants you to use Paypal first for tracking reasons.Send a quick e-mail to E-bay to find out if the seller is legitimate, even if you are not buying from him. If he is, you know you can use him in the future. Just make sure it is an official e-bay address you send the query to.
hamstercaster 2 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 It has the appearance of a scam and I wouldn't worry about him. If there's a problem I'm sure you'll be able to make your case with E-Bay authorities and have the Neg feedback taken out in the event that you get some. I wouldn't worry about it and I think you did the right thing...
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted September 7, 2006 I think all is well. I got a follow up e-mail. He said he's set up a new PP, but is still letting me opt out if I want (and I have).Odd though, I've got 4 e-mails from him, from at least 2 different addresses, with 2 other reply addresses listed.
