2007 Skates-CCM vs. Mission

Recommended Posts

What does everyone think. Looking at the features of the new ccm line vs. the new mission line it appears that mission has them beat. I understand it is purely a personal preference and I am not bashing ccm. I have been a supporter of ccm/rbk for years on ice and roller hockey and generally like what they manufacture. Feature for feature (specifically the boot-carbon fiber and bearings) mission has the edge. It appears that mission supports roller hockey more than ccm. Only my opinion... I am leaning towards the wicked one's or three's I am wondering what the weight difference will be? Probably slight...

i'm wearing the CCM PF10 skates right now and i think they are one of the best roller hockey skates out there but in terms of their 2007 line i even think my current skates have them beat. for some odd reason they went with a crappy chassic and again for the second model in a roll they went with crappy bearings as well. i would have to go with mission's 2007 models if i were you. but it also depends on the price which i haven't seen from the CCM line.

How big a difference is there in fit between Vectors and the 2007 Mission line?

Heard they made the toebox 4mm's wider on the Missions this year, so are they sort of similar now?

Damon from e-puck mentioned the additional 4mm. I have not tried the 2007 models on as of yet. E-puck and inlinewharehouse says oct. 2007 they will be available. Just by reviewing the specs that it appears that mission may have an edge. Not sure why ccm continues to put out micro 7 bearing and mission has the titanium bearings.

I think alot of people replace bearings and wheels right away for PP reasons, so I don't think you should let that influence your purchase. the main concern should be how the boot fits your foot. Personally I have pf10's size 11E, and they fit like a glove, so I'll stick with the ccm boots.

I also just purchased the PF10 boots off reading comments on the board. What bearings do you suggest I upgrade too?

Thanks,

Scott

having owned both Wicked 3's and PF10's they are very different skates. The CCM's are very comfy out of the box, decent stiffness, wretched bearings and made an odd creaking noise from the outsole (I am not the only person who has noticed this or had this happen to them). The Wicked 3's are painful to break in, very stiff (a bonus in my book), good bearings and feel much more form fitting than the fat padded feel of the PF10's.

As far as the 2007 lineup from CCM, most are using the lower grade Tri-Di chassis which I was able to mutilate by tightening my wheels on a pair of PF6's. The top line chassis on the Vector 10 is probably solid, but Mission has a better quality chassis on the whole Wicked series of skates.

I personally will never buy CCM/RBK product again, regardless of how tempting it looks, because of probably the worst customer service experience I've ever had with my second pair of PF10's. Mission on the other hand has really earned my business with their customer service recently. Either are very good skates, and both should fit the average to slightly wide foot just fine after a bake.

What happened that caused you to go away from CCM and need 2 pairs of PF10's?

My first pair were sold to a friend to help cover some medical bills for my daughter, and when I replaced those a few months later I got a pair that was marked as one size, but were definitely a half size to a full size too large, and was evident from just looking at the skate and how the front of it was built. CCM's customer service basically told me to eat it if I wanted a "probable" resolution faster than two months on a glaring manufacturers defect. Not what I expect on a $400 skate. While I don't care to support the online vendors much anymore, I have nothing but good things to say for Damon at Epuck who took care of me and got me into a pair of HE10K skates with minimal fuss in about a week.

Let me put this in perspective as to how good Mission's cust service is. My Wicked 3's are on warranty return right now because I got the statistical flaw boot on a skate. It happens, so I'm not upset about as I wasn't initially with CCM. When I contacted CS, they provided me an RA#, asked me to call with my tracking number to add to their records so we could process asap and will have a total turn around time of about 3 weeks. That's three weeks from me calling, shipping the skates to them, them process and a new pair arriving at my door. Much better than two months, and a much better attitude dealing with me as a customer.

I was considering trying the 2007 Vector 6 skates. Anyone have an opinion?

Also, if I currently wear a Mission 9EE, what size would compare with CCM?

Thanks

Missions go by actual shoe size if i remember correctly and CCM is 1 1/2 size smaller for skates than actual shoe size.

I wear anywhere from size 11-11/2 nikes and CCM 9 1/2's fit me perfectly.

most of the late 90's Mission are a half size to a full size off from shoe, and newer as stated runs a size to a size and a half. I found CCM/RBK stuff runs a half size to a full size off from Mission, best bet is to try them on.

I agree. My sizing of skates is a little wierd...I actually go up a half-size because I like room in the toe area.

While we're on sizing, does anyone know which would wider: mission 9 1/2 D skate or a mission 9EE (wide) skate.

Thanks.

the EE will be wider throughout the whole boot. I thought for a while the I would need to move to EE width, but with the wider toe caps the last couple of years I'm comfy in a D width. Are you having/have you had pain along the foot towards the middle or heel area? If so an EE might be something to look into. If it's been by the ball of the foot or toe area, try on the new ones in a D width first, it might be ok

One thing about the W1 : the padding on the inner side of the ankle is quite thin, so if your ankle bones stick out a lot (my case), you're in for a lot of pain. I heat-fitted them, deformed them many times (made a special tool just for it), and finally had to stick a piece of neoprene in my sock to get rid of the pain. But it works, and I'm confident that, given their freaking rigidity, I'll be able to do comfortably without the neoprene pieces after 50 more hours of play (I'm around 20 hours for now). It's a lot.

Apart from that, they behave for me just like advertised : I go faster, I turn faster, I stop faster, and all that with better control. No faster starts, though.

Just received the Vector 6.0's about an hour ago and after wearing them for a few minutes, they feel pretty nice. The top of the boots seems to be pretty stiff, though.

I ordered a size 8 and they feel pretty good size wise. (shoe size is 8 1/2 - 9) I'm wondering if I should send them back and try the 7 1/2 just to compare. hmmm.....

Anyone know if these are bakable?
