Canadiens main training camp set to start on September 14

MONTREAL (September 12, 2006) –The Montreal Canadiens released today the schedule of the 2006-07 training camp. Players will report for physical and medical exams at the Bell Centre on September 14 starting at 9:30 a.m.

The Canadiens’ first on-ice sessions will take place from September 15 to 18 at the Sportsplexe 4-Glaces, in Pierrefonds, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 each day. The training camp will run through October 3 with practices at the Bell Centre and the Verdun Auditorium. From October 1st to 3rd, the Canadiens training camp will move to the St-Jovite Arena, in Mont-Tremblant.

Practices opened to public

For a sixth consecutive season, the Canadiens will open their training camp to the general public, with a significant portion of the practice sessions being accessible. Canadiens fans will have the opportunity to attend the Canadiens practice sessions free of charge, from September 15-18 in Pierrefonds, as well as the 3-day stay in St-Jovite. Also this year, all practice sessions at the Bell Centre on game day during preseason will be opened to the public. The preseason home games will be held on September 19 and 20 (Boston), September 23 (Toronto), September 26 (Tampa Bay) and September 30 (Ottawa). Access to the building for these practices will be through the main entrance located on De La Gauchetière Street.

Jamboree for Canadiens fans

On Sunday September 17, the Canadiens invite all their fans to take part in the 4th edition of the Jamboree, at the outside terrace of the Bell Centre. Activities will begin at 11:00 a.m. Also featured during the day: Bureau en Gros street hockey games featuring Canadiens players and Alumni, player meet & greet sessions and photo opportunities, as well as plenty of games for all fans.

The official list of players attending the Canadiens’ training camp will be released on Wednesday, September 13.
