metallic tape

hey guys/gals,ran a search but.... i just picked up a kaberle commander and when i took the tape off the blade there was this:

anyone know what this is for? dampening? the tape has little metallic strips running along it.

I imagine that it would be strong? if so maybe it is to reinforce the blade or something.

It looks like packaging tape to me.

I have seen it on packages that I have opened before.

definitely looks like fiber-reinforced packing tape. Have you trued taking it off yet? seems it would only be there to stiffen a weak blade...

It is filament tape. Some people tape their blades with it before using hockey tape to "soften" the blade to make it easier to receive hard passes. Instant "soft" hands.

the stick was pretty much just taped, so i dont think the blade is weak, prob what Reaper said. w/e ill give it a try on monday.

Maybe Kaberle himself wanted to try something special when he took shots (I don't know). I don't think that there would be any difference if you still tape over it.
