you're right Thornton is one great playmaker too, not in my top 3 though. But I gotta give Thornton credit, 96 assists in our days is really something.

But, there's the second assists(not the immediate assist), their is assists on shots and there's also assists on simple plays like pass to pointmen and pointmen scores. Those kind of assists ask less of playmaking ability.
