Well since your looking at Smith's, I'd assume no lower level Vaughn stuff that costs like $400 or something. But Smiths are definitely a good buy, you'll save at least $200...plus you don't have to go to a dealer to find them as you order Smiths direct. Plus, Pete Smith designed stuff for Vaughn before starting his own business. Smiths are good and should last you...but I would caution you on the wait as I think some people are looking at 16 weeks I saw. Go look at goaliestore.com, lot more info there, but Smiths are as good as they get IMO.

Pete has had a very long career in the goalie equipment industry and it predates his work with vaughn. I have an early pair of his pads that I procurred just for display purposes.

That said, it would be hard to say that you would be making a mistake by going with his equipment but you are looking at a bit of a wait for them.

I am getting my new pair of smiths soon, I think pete said the wait is around 18 weeks and for gloves like 16 weeks. Im pretty sure it is just because it is mid season and it is busy but the wait for pads is usually 16 weeks.

+1 on the Smith's. Just got a full set myself. Full custom rocks! igot 11 inch pads and pro spec gloves from Pete. If you aren't in a rush, wait for them because I can tell you first hand they are a treat!

Good luck.
