Hey I was wondering I have never gotten my pitch or hollow or anything done to my skates before other than standard.

I was just wondering what you guys think I should ask them to do to my blades next time I take them in.

I'am around...

You'll likely have to find out on your own. A normal starting point is 1/2" hollow. If you feel your skates are too "grippy" you can move to a 9/16" or 5/8" hollow. If it's too slippery and not catching, you should go to a 7/16 or 3/8.

Don't fix what ain't broke, but there's nothing wrong with experimenting.

Talk to your skate sharpener about it, explain to him what you don't like about your skates, and he may have a suggestion on how to fix it. If he knows what he's doing and takes pride in his work, he'll have you in the right sharpening within a few weeks.

not all areas have guys who can do skates that well. I know at my prep school last year, our skate guy was and still is great and goalies especially like him because apparently there's not a lot of guys who do them well in connecticut. So he's the best sharpener around pretty much, and he cuts everyone on the same hollow. I'm pretty sure most players have never asked about it though.

This is in connecticut, which isn't mass, michigan, or minn but it sure isn't Oklahoma.

If your sharpener doesn't know enough to discuss the ins and outs of hollow, profile, etc., and the pros and cons of each, it's probably time to find another sharpener.
