Niinamaa guarantees a win

Recommended Posts

I really don't like Niinamaa at all and thought he was pretty much worthless when he was an Islander (which is saying something), but I will give him credit for this one. I think what makes this one good is because its not that out of the question. This isn't someone from say, Philly (1-6-1) guaranteeing a victory, this is someone from a team thats only lost one game in regulation. At the same time, I wouldn't give too much bulletin board material to the best team in the conference

Win or lose, I like it. Confident, aggressive and trying to provide leadership.

...from one of the newest guys on the team no less...that is the part that I like.

Kovalev, Souray, Koivu or Rivet guaranteeing a win is one thing, but when it comes from a guy who is new to the team...it shows he is really becoming part of the team, and wants to be a leader.

It's something that the team has been missing. Most of the guys you mention seem like they wouldn't mind winning while Janne sounds like he WANTS to win. It's a big difference.

Well the did almost beat the Sabres in the first game of the season. Montreal as the speed to play against this Buffalo team and the proved they could play in both defensive (low scoring) and ofensive games (high scoring). No Janne isn't the best D in the team and I am kinda surprised he did say such a thing, but it's a really good attitude. Anxious to see that game tonight.

It's a bold statement, I like it. It says to me that Niinimaa believes in his teammates (coming off of an 8-5 comeback win over the Avs on the weekend), and gets his team to step up to the challenge of trying to hand one of the best teams right now their first loss. It's big a confidence booster if they can win. If they don't win, the (Montreal) media will have a field day with him. At least he didn't make the "guarantee" during the playoffs.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right.
